Keep the basement alive.

This is community-funded history. Afterglow Backrooms exists because a community decided its own history was worth keeping.

Jeff and Doug spent decades collecting work that mainstream institutions ignored — and now that work is finally on a wall where people can see it. That didn't happen by accident. It happened because people believed it mattered.

We believe it matters too. And we need your help to keep going.

Where your money goes
01
Acquiring and preserving new works
02
Funding future exhibitions in Denver and beyond
03
Taking this collection on the road to cities across the country
04
Keeping Afterglow Backrooms free and accessible to the community it belongs to
This isn't philanthropy. It's participation.

When you donate to Afterglow Backrooms you're not writing a cheque to an institution — you're joining a community project. You're saying that Denver's gay history deserves to be seen. That the artists who made this work in the 60s, 70s, and 80s — at real personal risk — deserve to be remembered. That the next generation of queer kids in this city deserves to walk into a gallery and see themselves reflected back.

Every dollar goes directly toward the work. The more support we have, the further we can take it — across Denver, across the country, into the cities and communities that need to see this history most. And if you've got a spare room full of gay art, you know where to find us.
